Trained by the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute, I currently offer a Wednesday evening Pilates class (7.30-8.30pm).
Pilates is essentially a mind-body training technique that emphasises the importance of moving from a central core of stability. As a physiotherapist, I am trained to teach modified Pilates to strengthen the core muscles and improve posture, control and quality of movement, with the aim to both treat pain and prevent injury and dysfunction. Modified Pilates is one of a number of physiotherapy techniques aimed at correcting muscle imbalances in the lumbar (lower) spine and is supported by clinical evidence.
